About Black Art & Design

Husband-and wife-team Christopher Cox and Grace Okereke launched Black Art And Design in 2018 as a space to explore the work of emerging and established black creatives in the arts.

B.A.A.D also makes art accessible offline by hosting Meetups in the world’s top museums, galleries and theatres showing the work of black creatives.


Christopher Cox 

Co-Founder

Inspired by the works coming out of  London’s visual & performing arts scene, Christopher launched Black Art & Design as a personal blog in the winter of 2018. Born and raised in the United States He studied computer science at Morehouse College and lives in London with his wife and son. You can follow him on instagram or reach him at [email protected]

Grace Okereke         

Co-Founder

In addition to overseeing Black Art & Design’s publication, Grace runs her own UK based  artist development company, Uprise Rebel to support the work of Black female artists and administrators, as well as the development of black audiences. Born in Nigeria, Grace grew up in East London. With a B.A. in Dance Studies and a MA in Arts Policy & Management Grace has spent the last 18 years working with London’s top performing arts organisations. She is currently independent producer for Vicki Igbokwe | Uchenna DanceAlleyne Dance and Alesandra Seutin| Vocab Dance.
